Melissa Siegrist-Jacobs is the founder and
owner of A Velvet Hammer - an interior shop in Chagrin Falls, Ohio -
a picturesque community, whose boutique stores and charming ambience
attracts the fashion minded shopper. Relocating back to Ohio
after 15 years in California, Melissa created A Velvet Hammer in
order to marry the best of traditional Ohio craftsmanship with the
unique fabrics, custom designs and specialty accessories so often
found in California and the Pacific Rim.
Melissa takes great pride in the
ability of A Velvet Hammer to provide front end creative services,
as well as back end craftsmanship. Specialties of A Velvet
Hammer include:
- The restoration of cherished
upholstered furniture, including antiques and museum pieces.
- Personalized interior
consultations and private in home fabric displays.
- A unique line of heirloom
upholstered children's
rockers, as well as decorative pillows.
- Custom designed window
treatments, toppers, tablecloths, cushions, pillows, and bed
accessories, including bed skirts and duvet covers.
- A team of master craftsmen,
seamstresses, and ASID designers who will work with you and our
travel associates, to arrange personalized visits to flagship
fabric centers in American and abroad.
Melissa is uniquely suited to
deliver such a range of services, having previously owned and
operated the Americana Antique Shop, sold fabrics at the Galleria in
San Francisco. traveled Europe and the Middle East buying one of a
kind fabrics, and having learned upholstery and sewing after
studying under the tutelage of master craftsman Joe Avelos.
